Since the new version Vectoraster 7 has now been out for a good while, the old version Vectoraster 6 will no longer be available for sale or download for new users. Existing users can still re-download the software from the support pages if there is ever any need.

An update to Vectoraster 6 was just released. The new version fixes some line raster rendering bugs and also improves networking security for updates and product activation.

Download the new version for free on the product page or update to the latest version from within the application.

Today a small patch to Vectoraster 6 was released, fixing a bug with the preview rendering of line rasters when using multi-threaded rendering.

Another free update of Vectoraster 6 was released today, with the following improvements and fixes:

Changes in version 6.2.0

• Improved vector custom point shape importing.
• Fixed a bug with point color adjustment options not working with line rasters.
• Fixed a bug with applying varying point colors to bitmap custom point shapes.
• Changed appearance of some interface elements to make them easier to see in Mac OS X 10.10.
• Improved version checking when loading files from older versions of Vectoraster.
• Fixed a number of bugs with the display menu Auto-regenerate toggle and added an information label shown when auto-regenerate is disabled.
• Fixed point shape preview display for line rasters when using constant size function.

As usual existing user can update using the built-in updater feature.

• Fixed some problems for users with non-administrator user accounts, like in schools or big companies.
• Fixed a bug with unlocking the full version using e-mail addresses with uppercase characters.
• Improved error messages for some network connection problems during unlocking.

Today a new update for Vectoraster 6 was released, fixing a couple of bugs:

• Fixed a bug where loading a saved file with a document size manually set larger than the source image size would scale the source image incorrectly.
• Text pasted into the Character point type field is now cleared of invisible control and line feed characters.
• Fixed some incorrect error messages.

Over the weekend two small updates have been released:

Vectoraster 6.1.2 for Mac OS X
- Fixes a bug where source images included as backgrounds in exported rasters would be mirrored vertically.

DotPass 1.0.4 for iOS
- Fixes a bug where the screen would go black on iPod touch devices.

In both cases existing users should get the updates automatically using the internal updating systems.

A new small update (v 6.1.0) of Vectoraster was just released a few hour ago, and sent out through the update system. However, unfortunately it seems something was wrong with the file and the updated app didn't work for some users. For now we've rolled back the version to 6.0.9, so if you're having problem with the new version you can just download the old version again.

We're now investigating what has gone wrong, and we'll re-release the version as soon as we fix the problem. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Update Oct 18: The problem should now be resolved, v6.1.0 has been re-uploaded and the new build should hopefully work better.

Update Oct 23: To avoid confusion with the bad v6.1.0 file we've now released a 6.1.1 version, this also includes some improvements to stability for Mac OS X 10.7 and 10.8 users.

The update primarliy makes changes to Apple required code-signing so that the application will run on Mac OS X 10.9.5 and also includes an update to the Sparkle version checking framework, hopefully users on other version of Mac OS X should not notice any changes.

- Added support for source images in non-RGB bitmap formats (Such as CMYK or grayscale color models).
- Fixed a bug with quick look previews in Finder etc for .VRaster files.

Changes in version 6.0.6
- Added a new export mode to save raw point location and size data to a CSV-file.
- Fixed a bug with CMYK color channel measuring.
- A couple of typo fixes.

- Fixed a bug where pasting in vector graphics in the source image well would result in a blank raster.
- Vector images used as source images are now instead rasterized automatically and work just like bitmap images.

- Improved character point font picking interface that also fixes some problems users with third-party font managing utilities were having.
- Fixed a bug that left some graphical glitches when the right control panel was collapsed.

Today a new version of the illustration tool Vectoraster was released. Vectoraster is a graphics utility for creating vector-based raster patterns and halftones based on bitmap images.

The raster patterns and point shapes can be freely configured to produce many different styles, with the resulting raster shown in real time as you change the parameters. The rasters can then easily be exported as vectors to EPS or PDF files, as images to JPEG, PNG or TIFF, or simply copied and pasted into most graphics software.

You can download and try Vectoraster for free, but with some limitations. To remove these limitations and get the full version you have to pay for the application. For new users the full version costs $32, but registered users of Vectoraster 5 can upgrade for just $12.

Major changes and new features in Vectoraster 6

• New color adjustment controls the let you shift point color hue, saturation and brightness as well as vary these changes across the raster.
